Thank goodness I had read book 1 or I never Christina Tetreault. She's spent her life avoiding love Captain Charlotte ;Charlie; O'Brien, a doctor in the United States Navy, returns to her home in North Salem, Massachusetts to visit her family and make an important decision about her future. Mother Nature has other plans when a hurricane strikes, flooding the town and throwing Jake Sherbrooke in Charlie's path.
But I can't call it steamy either. It's a cop out. In all I was super disappointed with this book and I won't bother checking out the rest of the series. Two stars And that's only because there was no out and out egregious offense. Cute story.
See a Problem?
I really like the characters that Christina Tetreault has created. I scored a three because the transitions from one scene to the next, or even within a scene, weren't very smooth and it kind of affected the story. I will continue reading these, however, because I do like the stories.
Excellent Excellent story of a billionaire who's reputation was nothing like the man he really was. Great chemistry between Jake and Charlie made this very enjoyable. Recommended read. Shelves: review , contemporary , romance , strong-heroine , series. Jake is portrayed as the stereotypical spoiled, rich playboy which leaves Captain Charlotte "Charlie" O'Brien wanting nothing to do with him. Jake, on the other hand, finds her air of confidence and cool indifference intriguing.
Jake, determined to put off the image the world has of him and truly help after a Hurricane blows through, digs in and gets his hands dirty, a fact not missed by Charlie. And that's when the fun begins. The Good: This is the first time I have read a book by Christina Tetr Jake is portrayed as the stereotypical spoiled, rich playboy which leaves Captain Charlotte "Charlie" O'Brien wanting nothing to do with him. These are the kind of characters I love to see Both Jake and Charlie are good people.
Flawed perhaps, but good. I liked that the storyline started right at the beginning of the book - no waiting around, hoping for the story to move on here. The rest of the story unfolded gently, a little at a time at just the right pace. The other characters moved in and out of the storyline seamlessly and the drama fit in just as it was meant to be. The Billionaire Playboy is an entirely enjoyable read! The Bad: I didn't like the way that Charlie kept assuming the worst about Jake. I understood why but I didn't like it. Sometimes I wanted to just shake her too, for always trying to protect her heart.
Again, Ms. Tetreault made it clear why Charlie felt the way she did but it went on a little long for my taste. Other than that, I have no other complaints. The book was very well done.

The Snuggly: The chemistry between Jake and Charlie was exciting. You could almost see the sparks! And it just kept building and building. I loved all of the sensual thoughts that kept running through each of their minds. It only served to turn the heat up, notch by notch. I'm serious! It made my mouth get dry and I kept getting a hitch in my breathing - and no, I don't have Asthma!
And all they had barely done was kiss.

In public. In broad daylight. I was going to give this book a 2 in the Snuggly department but I just can't do it.

Sitting here, thinking about it all again as I write, all those same feelings are coming back. Yeah, it was that good. Oh and the s. I love the characters, especially Charlie and Jake and I loved their relationship. I would not hesitate to re-read this book either.
The Billionaire Playboy
The story has enough of a 'suspended in time' feeling that it would not get old. I would say it is for ages 18 and older due to the intimacy and the depth of the feelings and emotions involved but otherwise it is a clean,well-written book. Romance readers will love it! Tetreault's story transported me to a picturesque town where two characters, with backgrounds as different as night and day, meet, fall in love and entertained me for the day.
While staying at her mother's bed and breakfast, a hurricane sweeps through the small town of North Salem, and Charlie finds herself doing what she does best - taking charge of the situation. She never expected to meet Jake Sherbrooke, a man known as "The Billionaire Playboy" or on falling in love with the man he reveals himself to be.
Jake Sherbrooke has spent his whole life trying to carve out a life of his own separate from his wealthy and politically powerful family. Establishing "The Sherbrooke Foundation" was supposed to help him do what he loves, reach out to those in need, and establish him as a serious philanthropist. Unfortunately the paparazzi is determined to simply portray him as the President's young, rich and handsome son. When he learns of the hurricane and the damage it's done to North Salem, he personally visits the town to help as much as he can. He never planned on falling in love with a gorgeous redhead who's different from anyone he's ever dated before.
The scenes between Charlie and Jake are entertaining and they have great verbal and physical chemistry. Coming from two very different social backgrounds, Jake has lived a privileged life while Charlie has struggled for everything she's ever received, they soon realize they have more in common than they thought. They fit together. Unused to the attention the media brings to anyone in Jake's life, Charlie is unprepared to deal with the realities of dating someone who's famous more for who they are than what they do.
Tetreault did a great job developing both Charlie and Jake's characters; we get to see what makes them tick as individuals and as a couple. The biggest problem their relationship has is their fear, Jake's fear of being judged for his birthright and Charlie's childhood fear of being abandoned by another man.
When photos appear making it appear as if Jake is being unfaithful, will Charlie give him a chance to explain? Will Charlie and Jake's fears tear them apart? You'll have to read The Billionaire Playboy to find out. It's a light romance and fun book to read. Nov 25, Cindy rated it really liked it. It's romantic. Charlotte and Jake doesn't carry their romance off that far. The plot is new and fresh. Like I like how there is Jake's sister's wedding and all that.
I like how Charlotte gets jealous of the girls around Jake. It's all good. Even though it isn't my average teen romance book. Rate: 8. Oct 22, Melissa Maxwell rated it it was amazing. I really enjoyed this story.
Charlie and Jake's romance was hard fought but worth the out come. I can't say I like it better than book one but the story was a great compliment to book one. I love how similar in values both character while different in other ways. I am super excited for Sara's story because you know she has been hurt but the depths she holds that hurt shows how mush love she is capible of giving. Sep 16, Jennifer Gallagher rated it it was amazing Shelves: romance-family-saga. Christina Tetreault is a very good author..
I loved the first book in this series.. Jake Sherbrooke has never been one to follow the path laid out by his parents. That is why he started the Falmouth Foundation, a non-profit disaster relief organization rather than enter politics. When he learns of the destruction in North Salem, he immediately travels there to offer aid and meets Charlie O'Brien. Charlie is unlike any woman he has ever meet and he can not help but be drawn to her.
